Peter Bessler, FCA

Peter qualified with an independent Southampton firm before moving to PWC in London where he spent the initial years of his career specialising in the audit of major corporates, both in the UK and overseas. He joined Howard Tilly in 1974 and took on responsibility for a number of the firm’s largest clients, such as Unigate, Cow & Gate and The Marley Group. He also developed his interest in the provision of advisory services to owner managed businesses. 

As a member of Howard Tilly’s management team, Peter was involved in several merger discussions including the successful negotiations with Baker Rooke who merged with Howard Tilly in 1988 to form Baker Tilly. Peter was the partner responsible for the merged Guildford office and a member of the firm’s National Executive.

Peter was a founder partner of Bessler Hendrie in 1997 and has lead the practice through its formative period to date to provide a full range of compliance services together with a strong emphasis on tax and strategic advice to business owners and managers.  

Out of the office, Peter enjoys sailing, gardening and developing his knowledge of fine wines.
